The project is being developed at the production facility in Bussolengo (Verona), the heart of Pellini Caffè’s industrial operations and one of the most advanced plants in the industry.
Founded in 1922, Pellini Caffè has its roots in the Pellini family’s entrepreneurial tradition. Its coffee business began after the Second World War, marking the start of a growth journey that has made the company one of the leading players in the Italian and international markets. Today, Pellini Caffè has approximately 150 employees and operates from its modern Bussolengo facility, inaugurated in 2005. More than twenty years after it was built, the site continues to set a benchmark for innovation, automation and production quality in the coffee sector. The company’s constant focus on selecting raw materials, combined with ongoing research into production process efficiency, has always been one of its core values.
The partnership with Aetna Group began in 2004 and has grown stronger over the years through the introduction of increasingly advanced technological solutions, supporting Pellini Caffè’s production growth and evolving market requirements. To optimise the packaging line, particularly its end-of-line operations, the facility uses several solutions from the Group’s brands. Today, the Group represents a complete ecosystem guided by clear priorities: operator safety, product integrity, material optimisation and business sustainability. The Group’s brands, Robopac, OCME, Meypack, TopTier and Sotemapack, cover the entire end-of-line process across a wide range of industries, from secondary packaging and palletising to load stabilisation and automated intralogistics.
Aetna Group solutions for PelliniSix WA20 wrap-around case packers from the Sotemapack brand have been integrated into the production line. Compact and versatile, the WA20 machines are designed to handle a wide range of packaging formats, ensuring high operational flexibility. The ability to package products using different solutions, including wrap-around cases, trays and tray & lid formats, has supported the growth of the partnership between Pellini Caffè and Aetna Group.
This versatility in handling flexible products enables the company to respond effectively to changing market requirements and continuously expand its offering with new solutions.
The line also includes a Rotoplat 508 by Robopac, a semi-automatic rotary-table stretch wrapper for the vertical wrapping of palletised loads. Designed to deliver maximum operational versatility, the machine stands out for its high reliability, ease of use and numerous configuration options, allowing it to adapt to different production requirements. Thanks to its performance and wrapping quality, the Rotoplat 508 ensures perfect pallet load stabilisation, helping to optimise the efficiency and safety of the entire logistics process.
A commitment to qualityFederico Pellini, Chairman of Pellini Caffè S.p.A. and a representative of the family’s second generation, describes the journey shared with Aetna Group:
Innovation to support growth“Our family has always attached fundamental importance to quality: a passion that begins with the raw material and, of course, extends to every aspect of our production processes.
In recent years, we have undertaken major technological upgrades and faced new challenges. In this context, the new Sotemapack case packer has made a real difference. It was selected to support the development of a new market niche dedicated to whole-bean products, as well as because of the trust built up over our many years of collaboration. Thanks to Aetna Group’s solutions, we have also been able to eliminate shrink-film packaging and adopt paper-based solutions that support our sustainability goals.
Today, as we look to the future, we have strengthened our corporate governance with the appointment of a new General Manager and defined a three-year business plan that will enable us to exceed €100 million in revenue. Our goals are to further increase our presence in international markets and accelerate development in the portioned-products segment.”
The collaboration between Pellini Caffè and Aetna Group demonstrates how a relationship built over time can evolve into a genuine shared growth journey. The integration of advanced technologies for secondary packaging and end-of-line operations has increased flexibility, efficiency and sustainability, supporting the company’s expansion into new markets and the development of new products, without ever losing sight of the value that has distinguished the Pellini brand for more than a century: quality.
